NBYCO and Bedford Youth Choir Summer Concert

On Friday 3 July, we held our NBYCO Summer Concert, showcasing an evening of outstanding music-making.

The concert opened with Vivaldi's Concerto in G minor for Two Cellos, featuring soloists Nelly Palmer and Olivia Collins. As both move on to exciting new adventures this year, their breathtaking performance was a fitting reminder of just how much they will be missed.

We were then delighted to welcome back NBYCO alumnus and recent RNCM graduate Xavier Williams for the premiere of his Keyboard Concerto in G minor. The work received a superb performance from fellow RNCM graduate Julia Leszczyńska, making for a truly memorable occasion.

After the interval, both ensembles joined together for a stirring performance of Vivaldi's Gloria, before the Chamber Choir captivated the audience with a selection of choral favourites, delivered with their trademark musicality and elegance.

The evening concluded with a powerful performance of Mendelssohn's Scottish Symphony. It was wonderful to see conductors Jan Kaznowski and Mike Gemmill sharing the baton, and we are incredibly grateful for their unwavering dedication and inspiration throughout another fantastic year. We also extend our thanks to our remarkable young musicians, whose enthusiasm and commitment make Friday night orchestra such a special part of the week.

Our Chamber Choir welcomes singers aged 11–20, while NBYCO is open to instrumentalists typically performing at Grade 5–8+ standard.

New members are always welcome - get in touch to find out more!
